Sunny with highs in the upper 80s, although it was much cooler in the green tunnel.
Saw a small snake and a deer. Also saw grouse put on quite a show trying to protect it's nest.
Hiked NE out of Salisbury on 41. The AT left the road to go N and climb a 1000 feet up to Lion's Head. This was followed by a 600 foot climb up to the summit of Bear Mountain. At 2316 feet, this is the tallest peak in Connecticut. This was followed by an equal but very steep decent to Sages Ravine, a beautiful area carved by a stream (brook).
While in Sages Ravine, we crossed the brook and entered Massachusetts. Six states completed now.
Enjoy Plantain Pond, you two! Following you on GE. xo, cc
