16 June - Stratton Pond Shelter

Cool today, high in the 60s, but felt like mid 50s in the mountains.  Some rain.  May still rain tonight.

We hiked 10.4 miles today.  From last nights shelter, we went down 600 feet, climbed 1700 feet, then back down 1400 feet to Stratton Pond.  It was a good hike.   Wendy was the first one up to the peak.  She also went up the fire tower.

This is a very nice shelter - new and can sleep 16.  We are with Joe from Iowa and Train Wreck,  as well as, David (who I gave the trail name "One Day").  He is hiking the AT for the first time.  He may complete it all one day.  I also named another Dave as "Solo".  He has climbed the AMC 100 peaks, always alone.

The five of us are here again tonight.   We are just now getting invaded by some young thru-hikers, five so far.
