Glorious, sunny day with a beautiful forecast for the next 7 days. However, it did rain this afternoon.
Hiked 13 miles today, and after a stream ford, most of it was uphill. In most places it was a gradual climb. We crossed four peaks, the last of which was White Cap Mountain at 3654 feet which will be the last large mountain we cross before Katahdin. We saw Katahdin today from the top of White Cap but unfortunately it was already hazy.
It is getting exciting. Katahdin looked closer than I expected. We are meeting people who "don't want the hike to end". I think for most thru-hikers, completion is bitter-sweet. For us, it is only sweet. We are done, but not completely. We still have Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina to do.
